Birthday Bumps
And we are here again when its time for celebrations. Well, there are two reasons for our much required celebrations. The first and the foremost being the month of October itself. This month brings sweet hope of the onset of Winters. Ahh!! Winters when everything around is beautiful, white and serene and it is also the time when Santa visits. So boys and girls buckle up, for Santa must be preparing his “list”. Oh! And the second reason behind our festivities is that its birthday time. Birthday are so much fun because they remind you of the past, a past which holds your laugh and tears, your joys and sorrows, your notoriety and your innocence. Also an important reason is you get your own personalised cake. Yay!!
Every month, we celebrate birthdays of our favourite authors and literary figures and its time again to wish them all with good wishes. Let’s see who we have first.
1.R. L. Stein (October 8,1943)
Stein has always been a favourite for providing us with gems like the Goosebumps series which frankly dominated most of our childhood. Thank you Stein for making our childhood a wonderful world of fictional stories. A very Happy birthday to you. Keep being as fantastic as you are by giving us many more gems from your Pandora’s box.
2.Oscar Wilde (October 16,1854- November 30, 1900)
Giving us the best advice of all times, telling us to “be yourself; everyone else is taken” Oscar Wilde became our favourite. The most relaxed author one can ever come across, Wilde gave us ‘Picture of Dorian Gray’ and ‘The importance of being Ernest’ among other loved masterpieces. We wish you a very happy birthday and you’ll always remain one of our favourite.
3.Ezra Pound (October 30, 1885- November 1, 1972)
One of the most wonderful imagist poets of all times, Ezra showed us how to write poetry. Giving a new meaning to metaphors, he is also the one who gave us brilliant authors and poets like James Joyce and Robert Frost. We thank you Ezra for all you did for us, you really are the most priceless Pound anyone has ever come across. Happy birthday to you.
4.Sylvia Plath (October 27 1932-November 11,1963)
Learning the word ‘camouflage’ for the first time in a little poem called ‘Mirror’, we get a taste of Plath at a very young age. Also, how can we forget the “ wonderful woolly whiskery brand-new mustard-yellow it-doesn't-matter suit” and the bed book which makes us imagine different types of beds and takes whimsical imagination to a whole new level. Sylvia, you’ll be adored for all the ages to come. Happy birthday to you.
5.John Keats (October 31 1795- February 23,1821)
“A thing of beauty is joy forever” will stand true in every sense always, thanks to our most cherished poet Keats. His odes are the ones which will remain alive in our memories and will always be dear to our hearts. Happy birthday to you sir, you’ll be treasured forever.
